4 Peaks :: Arizona :: Valentines Day

Well this is how far behind I am on blogging.  We went camping to 4 peaks with our good friends Adam and Jen for Valentines day.  You know that it was a good trip when you come back with 4 or 5 solid inside jokes, thanks Adam and Jen for the fun.  We took a hike up one of the nearby mountains, played guitar, sang along, and started our inside joke journey.  The weather was beautiful, the sunsets were magical, and the food was good… what else can you ask for.  Here are a few pictures…

Boston :: Providence :: Pics

I finally got to go to Boston/Providence.  I have always wanted to go to Providence because of the movie “Outside Providence” Pawtucket specifically, its actually pronounced “p’tucket”  I did see a few water towers, but none that looked like the one from the movie.  Pawtucket was surprisingly colorful, I was there during the fall so there was a lot of leaves and a lot of water.  Boston is a cool area, it has an old town feel, that may be because it has a ton of history.  I actually hit up the original cheers… the place the show was based off.  One of the coolest things I saw in Boston was the old mini cemetaries in the middle of downtown.

Amanda & Leon :: Aventura Spa Palace :: Tulum, MX

We are excited to announce that we will be shooting Amanda and Leon’s wedding in Tulum, Mexico!  Late April we will be there with these two fine people, so if any of you are in the Riviera Maya around that time, give us a shout!  The Aventura Spa Palace is a really nice place, check it out here.  The Riviera Maya is an amazing place to get married, you don’t get more romantic than the turquoise ocean and white sandy beaches.  There is so much to do in that area, Who knows maybe we will even get some scuba diving in.  Playa Del Carmen/Cozumel/Tulum is me and Casi’s favorite place to shoot weddings.  Leon is a huge fan of Harleys, and Amanda works with Kendra, our 2008 Cancun bride!.  We are really excited to get to know them better and get some awesome shots of their wedding.

If you are getting married in Cancun check out our work…

We are going to shoot Brian and Rachael’s wedding in Maui!  We shot their engagement session a while back and thought we would put up the “official” announcement on the blog.  Brian and Rachael put on the best parties and are great hosts, never a dull moment when the “Abers” are around.  Considering how awesome your regular parties are, I can’t imagine how amazing the biggest party of your lives is going to be!  We can’t wait to shoot their wedding!  Thanks Brian and Rachael for choosing Blake Slade Photographers to shoot your wedding!

Info :: Hiring A Cancun Wedding Photographer

If you are getting married in the Cancun area this information should be useful.  This article is going to cover ideas and things to keep in mind when hiring a Cancun Wedding Photographer.  Now that we have shot our share of weddings in the Riviera Maya (Cancun) area, I feel like we can provide sound advice.  Before you start anything you should analyze your options, basically you have two:
Hiring an outside photographer, aka destination wedding photographer, for your Cancun wedding
or
Hiring a local “resort provided” photographer
There are advantages and disadvantages to both, some of which include price, communication, and quality of work.  The best thing to do when deciding between these two options is to look at the work and price of both and compare the two, see what you are comfortable with.  If you decide to go with an outside photographer consider the fact that you are going to have to cover travel expenses for the photographer or photographers.  The standard is that you pay for flights, two nights resort stay (AT THE SAME RESORT YOU ARE STAYING AT!), rental car, price of photography coverage, and other miscellaneous smaller expenses.  In summary, don’t expect to spend $1,000, expect to spend more.  In turn for paying the higher cost of a skilled photographer you will get memorable works of art from your wedding in Cancun.  Consult with your photographer before you make any exact times with your resort wedding coordinator, to make sure that lighting will be optimal for what you are looking for.  An example of this would be the difference in the priority of shots, each bride is going to be different.  Some brides may want the best lighting at the ceremony, some may want the best lighting to be for their couples intimate shots.  This point brings us to yet another perk of hiring a Cancun wedding photographer from the States, the knowledge they bring to the table.  Obviously we are partial toward hiring an outside photographer dedicated to destination weddings, so take that for what it’s worth.

May 11, 2009 - 6:48 am Daniel Eric - I would always suggest picking the best photographer available. The price you pay for a photographer of less quality will be far greater in lost memories than the price you pay for a photographer who knows what he/she is doing!

May 18, 2009 - 6:07 am Faith and Facts - Pricing for photographers, especially in other countries, can be wildly variable. The best gauge of quality will be in their portfolio. Pick the top two and negotiate a price.
