If you are getting married in the Cancun area this information should be useful. This article is going to cover ideas and things to keep in mind when hiring a Cancun Wedding Photographer. Now that we have shot our share of weddings in the Riviera Maya (Cancun) area, I feel like we can provide sound advice. Before you start anything you should analyze your options, basically you have two:
Hiring an outside photographer, aka destination wedding photographer, for your Cancun wedding
or
Hiring a local “resort provided” photographer
There are advantages and disadvantages to both, some of which include price, communication, and quality of work. The best thing to do when deciding between these two options is to look at the work and price of both and compare the two, see what you are comfortable with. If you decide to go with an outside photographer consider the fact that you are going to have to cover travel expenses for the photographer or photographers. The standard is that you pay for flights, two nights resort stay (AT THE SAME RESORT YOU ARE STAYING AT!), rental car, price of photography coverage, and other miscellaneous smaller expenses. In summary, don’t expect to spend $1,000, expect to spend more. In turn for paying the higher cost of a skilled photographer you will get memorable works of art from your wedding in Cancun. Consult with your photographer before you make any exact times with your resort wedding coordinator, to make sure that lighting will be optimal for what you are looking for. An example of this would be the difference in the priority of shots, each bride is going to be different. Some brides may want the best lighting at the ceremony, some may want the best lighting to be for their couples intimate shots. This point brings us to yet another perk of hiring a Cancun wedding photographer from the States, the knowledge they bring to the table. Obviously we are partial toward hiring an outside photographer dedicated to destination weddings, so take that for what it’s worth.
